This past weekend, Maddie had 3-day weekend from school. So, we used it as a opportunity to explore more of Asia and went to Pulau Weh, an island off the cost of Banda Aceh, Indonesia.
The purpose of our trip was to scuba dive after getting certified about 9 months ago.
We stayed at Pulau Weh Resort and Vincent, the owner, was also our dive master. We were in very good hands. Below, you can see Vincent and Christy who helps run the resort and is also Dive Master.
To get to the dive boat, we boarded a smaller boat from the beach outside our condo.
We had the good fortune of meeting Noer Muis who was also staying at the resort and joined us on all of our dives. Muis says his hobby is underwater videography. Later we found out that he has written several books and developed videos to promote underwater tourism in Indonesia.
Muis dove with an impressive camera and shared many of the photos and videos with us to document our adventure. A true gift!
We did three dives on our first day in Pulau Weh. The first was just a check out dive and not that interesting. The last two dives were amazing with gardens of soft coral fans and amazing sea life.
