Tour de Penang Continues

After the Kek Lok Si temple, we continued on to sample a local culinary favorite – Durian. It is an acquired taste and one that I have not completely acquired. But, Penang is famous for it and it is a must try.

Our friends, Matt and Alou brought some over to our condo to sample. Unfortunately, the world famous Penang Durian is out of season. So, we had some that was imported from Thailand.

We had to eat it outside as it will stink up your entire house. Most hotels, building, airplanes, etc forbid people from bringing in Durian. Matt has a video on the subject. It is appropriately titled Scent of the King.

Descriptions ranged from “Not as bad as I thought” to “It kinda tastes like meat”.

After that, we traveled around the backside of the Penang Island where we hiked and explored a waterfall.

Then we headed down to the southern part of the island for dinner near the beach at Kunthai.
